OFFSHORE WELFARE SOLUTIONS
ENGINEERING THAT OUTPERFORMS
The Liftaloo™
Indestructible Construction
Rotomoulded one piece monocoque construction in tough fully recyclable LDPE - shockproof - no weld joints - no construction compromises. The FEA designed Internal lifting hanger spreads the load throughout the cabin enabling a single certified lifting point.
While others rely on brittle aluminium and welded steel frames with blow moulded or plastic coated wood panels and high maintenance multi-point lifting systems, Liftaloo is a one piece indestructible germ free shockproof unit. We are the first to deliver a certified welfare solution 100% leakproof even in the event of a knockdown, ensuring zero risk of environmental contamination. Sealed waste tank. No smells give full user pleasure, a first in remote sanitation.
Simplified Logistics
Patented single certified lifting point reduces LOLER equipment from nine pieces to just one, allowing safer and more efficient deployment and ongoing maintenance.
The strength of the cabin is in its indestructible material, its FEA designed shape spreading the load throughout the cabin in conjunction with its single lifting point.
By eliminating the need for a separate lifting frame, Liftaloo simplifies logistics Shackles, lifting eyes, and frames all require regular testing – the LiftaLoo cuts that down dramatically. You can swap out the single lifting eye in seconds with a fresh certified one and reuse lifting hangers across multiple cabins. This means quicker mobilisations, less downtime, and more space efficiency on deck.
COMPLIANCE WITHOUT COMPROMISE
The mission is to elevate human dignity and safety for technicians by providing welfare solutions that ensure full compliance with health and safety standards while protecting the environment from human waste.
We have moved beyond the industry standard “So far as reasonably practicable” (SFAIRP) approach to provide fully compliant solutions that meet non-negotiable HSE demands.
Critically, the HSE mandates hot water — a significant challenge without external power. Griffin has successfully achieved this non-negotiable requirement.
The Liftaloo features a standalone hot water handwash to meet the non-negotiable HSE mandate for full compliance and superior hygiene.
HYGIENE-FIRST
The Liftaloo features a magnetic seat lift to keep the toilet seat raised, preventing the seat from being splashed, along with a higher than standard seat height, it promotes a hygiene-first design to combat poor aim and allowing a hover posture.
Liftaloo has a raised heel step for seated use. By raising the knees above the hips, this posture helps to naturally align the body's internal passage as recommended by the NHS.
The toilet bowl is high quality marine-grade porcelain. Recirculating flush negates fresh water to be carried to the turbine minimising water consumption. One way valves prevent waste returning once flushed into the sealed waste tank eliminating odour.
The Liftaloo offers unparalleled offshore compliance safety and user comfort, featuring a secure, DDA-compliant locking door, non-slip flooring, stand alone hot water, hand wash, Bio degradable sanitary bin liner, phone holder, large mirror, internal IP68 LED solar recharge lighting, heavy duty gear hooks. Rock-solid stability 100% bunded leakproof integrity for the harshest marine conditions along with wheels that come into contact when the unit needs to be manoeuvred and corner handles for safety and deck lashing.
Features include:
-
DIN 16194 compliance
-
Removable tank for servicing without removing the entire unit
-
Quick-disconnect dry-lock couplings
-
Fully sealed tank, zero spillage.
-
Two way watertight membrane breathable vent valves for gas expansion and contraction

The tank avoids unwanted slosh and spillage; easier logistics to take back to shore for odour free servicing than other non compliant solutions.
ADVANCED WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The custom-designed DIN 16194 compliant Waste Tank offers a superior and more reliable solution compared to standard portable toilets by focusing on quality, compliance, and user-friendly maintenance. Its heavy-duty LDPE construction is certified for lifting, ensuring maximum durability and safety, while its capacity is fully compliant with the latest DIN 16194 standards.

The Liftaloo's journey is one of success: from being showcased at offshore wind conventions, to mass production lines in the UK, and finally, to its home in the middle of the North Sea. We are proud to have Cargostore as our sole distributor, supplying the Liftaloo, and to have Tharsus assembling each cabin, ready for action.
Here is what Insight Energy magazine, covering the latest news from the UK's energy sector has to say:
When Cargostore Worldwide launched LiftaLoo™ – the world’s first, single-point lift offshore welfare toilet unit – at Global Offshore Wind 2025, its aim was to solve a significant problem facing the many thousands of engineers and maintenance teams working on wind turbines and decommissioned oil rigs: the lack of dedicated toilet facilities.
What followed was a swift demonstration of just how pressing that need truly was.
IMPROVING HYGIENE STANDARDS
A June 2025 report by RenewableUK and the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) found that nearly 40,000 people currently work in the UK offshore wind industry, a figure projected to reach 100,000 by 2030.
Among them, wind turbine technicians are the most represented in the sector, making up more than 10% of the total workforce.
The absence of dedicated, hygienic facilities has long been a serious welfare concern across the industry. The LiftaLoo™ was developed specifically to address this gap. Its reception at Global Offshore Wind 2025 reflected a timely alignment between a market requirement and a purpose-built solution.
Offshore operators quickly recognised its potential in helping them meet growing Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) obligations, and many expressed a desire to ‘move beyond the makeshift’ alternatives in favour of a dedicated, certified facility.
The LiftaLoo™ delivers on that promise. Key features include a sealed waste tank with rapid swapout capability, warm running water with a removable, rechargeable battery, solar-powered lighting, a biodegradable sanitary bin for safe and discreet disposal of hygiene products, and a porcelain bowl with a patented seat design optimised for comfort and cleanliness.
Meanwhile, the rise in oil rig decommissioning activities now accounts for approximately 35% of total offshore energy workforce activity. Decommissioning is forecast to peak by the mid-2030s, with activities continuing through to the early 2070s.
Yet for the many thousands of workers on these offshore platforms, basic welfare provisions have historically fallen far short. Workers have faced a stark set of choices: endure an entire shift without access to a toilet, resort to using a bag, or risk a potentially hazardous and lengthy transfer to a support vessel.
Crucially, its LOLER-certified single lifting point allows crews to move it quickly and safely from vessel to platform. Four lashing points allow it to be rapidly fixed to external decks for stability in the most challenging environments.
Andrew Moll, global operations manager at Cargostore Worldwide, explained that demand for LiftaLoo™ accelerated almost immediately after launch, but so did the learning curve.
“Launching at Global Offshore Wind was one thing,” he said. “Getting units straight out into live offshore environments was where the real validation happened.”
Early deployments highlighted just how critical robust welfare infrastructure is offshore. They also generated valuable operational feedback from technicians and site managers working in exposed, high-wind and subzero conditions.
“We saw extended siting requests almost straight away,” Andrew said. “Operators didn’t just want a temporary welfare solution. They wanted something that could remain safely in place for months.”
One example emerged during cold weather deployments, where extreme conditions caused the waste tank chemical to freeze.
While the unit remained structurally sound and fully compliant, this highlighted an opportunity to further enhance the waste system for sub-zero environments. Rather than applying incremental adjustments, Cargostore formalised the next phase of development to exceed its own rigorous quality benchmarks.
“We knew the product was already revolutionary,” Andrew said. “The question became how to harden it for longer deployments and scale production without compromising quality.”
To achieve this, Cargostore partnered with Tharsus, a product design and advanced manufacturing specialist. Collaborating with Tharsus meant the LiftaLoo™ maintained the accolade of being fully designed, developed and produced in the UK.
THE THARSUS IMPACT
Tharsus operates under a “Solve + Scale + Supply” model, supporting industrial clients in strengthening both product performance and manufacturing capability.
The collaboration with Cargostore centred on the optimisation of its integrated power and water systems.
By significantly increasing battery capacity, the system could support a more powerful water heating process paired with advanced UV water treatment.
To prepare for larger-scale production the focus shifted to certification, strengthening supply chain robustness and implementing enhanced quality management processes.
“Cargostore was clear about what success looked like,” said Dave Swan, chief technical officer at Tharsus. “They had a strong product and clear market demand. Our role was to help reinforce and industrialise that capability so it could perform consistently in some of the most demanding offshore conditions.”
The partnership also ensured that production timelines could meet growing market requirements without compromising compliance, structural integrity or operational reliability.
“For offshore operators, delivery dates matter,” Andrew explained. “If we commit, we deliver. That discipline is built into both the product and the manufacturing process.”
AN IDEAL PARTNERSHIP
With offshore wind employment forecast to more than double and decommissioning activity increasing steadily through to the 2070s, welfare provision is moving from afterthought to expectation.
The LiftaLoo™ represents that shift. A purpose-built, certified offshore welfare unit refined through live deployment, strengthened through engineering partnership and manufactured to scale.
“Dignity offshore shouldn’t be optional,” Andrew concluded. “It should be standard.”
We are immensely proud to announce that LiftaLoo has been shortlisted for the prestigious Humber Marine and Renewables Awards this year! This nomination is a tremendous honor and a powerful recognition of our company's dedication to the offshore industry, proving that countless hours spent at sea perfecting our solution have delivered the efficiency, comfort, and high standards that offshore workers truly deserve.
We extend our sincere thanks to Cargostore Worldwide, our distributor, for championing our invention and going the extra mile to present it wherever they can. Their hard work mirrors the passion and effort we put into creating the LiftaLoo, and we are grateful to have you as a partner in elevating welfare standards.
